Vincent looked at her and chuckled "Im not leaving, Im just getting out of the water" he sat on the sand and the low water would come up and hit his feet and butt.

Katherine dragged herself out of the water to sit beside him. Sitting out of the water, her shoulders got dried off pretty fast, unlike her hair, stomach, butt, and legs.

Vincent smiled at her "Cold?"

Katherine was staring out at the waves when he asked if she was cold and she nodded her head yes.

Vincent moved closer to her and wrapped his arm around her, keeping her warm

Katherine blushed and smiled when he had his arm around her. and she was beginning to warm up. "thanks." She said quietly

Vincent nodded "Welcome" he smiled and looked out to the sea "its beautiful, isnt it?"

Katherine nodded. "This is my first time ever at the beach."

Vincent looked at her "Really? "

Katherine nodded. "me and Ashlyn just moved here... I moved us after my dad got arrested..."

Vincent nodded "oh.. I see...im sorry for your dad." he looked at the sand and seen a pink seashell, he picked it out, handing it to her "here, I want you to have this "

Katherine smiled and gently took the shell from him. "It's gorgeous...."

Vincent smiled and nodded "Im glad you like it."

Katherine leaned over and hugged him. "thank you." Katherine's friend Mike that Ashlyn had played with had taken Ashlyn home.

Vincent spoke "you''re welcome" he looked back out to sea and chuckled as his friend got owned by a wave.

Katherine laughed and watched the other boy get knocked over by a wave. She looked over at Vincent and up at him.

Vincent looked at Kathrine "Thats Ross, Ross the Boss" he chuckled "he isnt really a boss but hes cool"

I nodded and smiled. "I see..." Just then my phone rang on shore and i ran to get it. It was a number I didn't recognize. "Hello?" I answered. "Katherine?" Said a woman on the other line. "yes... Who is asking?"

Vincent stood up and streched, looking at her.

Katherine frowned as the woman spoke. "Katherine, it's mommy." Said the woman. "You're a liar. Who is this? How did you get my number?!" Katherine tried her hardest not to scream as the tears welled up in her eyes. The woman convinced Katherine it was her mother and Katherine hung up without even saying goodbye. She crumpled to the ground, knees pulled up to her chest, head in her hands, tears pouring.

Vince walked over and kneeled next to her, pulling her into a hug "Whats wrong?" he looked down at her "What happened?"

Katherine hugged him back and continued crying. "That was my mom... How the hell did she even find me?!" She knew he was confused.

Vincent sighed "ok, maybe you should change your number..?"

Katherine just shrugged and shook her head. "It won't make a difference. If she got it once she could get it again. I know you don't understand.... It's just... A really long story.

Vincent sighed "I know I have only known you for a few minutes, even though it feels like I have known you for years.. I think I should take you to my place in case your mother finds you. My father is a cop and told me about a family of yours."
