Deleteing / Locking Posts

Post  JENOVA's SOLDIER on Mon Feb 20, 2012 8:25 pm

I have been offline on this site for a week or so now, because I am swamped with school, I have to figure out what I'm doing with my future, and my home life is rather stressful and I came back on this site just to find that the one RP that I wanted to reply to was deleted.

CMStone(Chris) and I, had been working on a lovely RP on here that I quite enjoyed. I would like to point out that are word count in that RP alone was well more than most of the other RPs had in 12 pages of posts. We were having fun with it. Chris has been just as busy with school and life as I have. He is:
  • In his first year at University (In Medical Science, y'know to become a doctor)
  • Lives with just himself and his finacé and only one of them has a steady job.
  • Medical issues himself. (He has had heart problems for a couple years now.
  • Hobbies/Life

He is quite bothered by the fact that it has been deleted as well.

You shouldn't be deleting things like that. They are "Private RPs" because they can be taken at a leisurely pace. If it had been a public RP I wouldn't be as bothered. But it wasn't so I am.

I have been RPing for 8 and a half years, Chris for 5 or 6, and this is the first time I have ever heard of a RP site deleting threads. It's not a good way to run an RP site. I have run quite a few in my days and I'm shocked, appalled... enraged with the fact that this would happen. Can you blame me, I don't think so. I haven't been on the computer for weeks now.

If you're going to get rid of PRIVATE RPS wouldn't it be a good idea to ASK THE RPERS! It's common courtesy, it's manners. Do you take something from a friend without saying anything. And then destroy it? No, I'd like to think you don't. Why? Because it's wrong, and because you wouldn't want it happening to you.

I am one step away from leaving this site. It's seriously not a problem... I have other sites I can RP on. And here I thought there was a chance, but this really is a taboo when it comes to the RP community.

My suggestion. Leave Private Rps alone. They are created for the people who started them. They should be able to take their time in replying to things like this. I personally take weeks to write things at time, aside from being busy with school things. This action bothers me immensely. That is all I have to say. And I hope you can think of a good way to fix this.

I am also not very happy about this Cayden as you know. I hope that you will be moving our roleplay to the other site. I am also thinking about quiting this site. It is not what it was before and some people are not helping with it. I get mad reading some posts that are just plane stupid.

I agree. I sometimes like to go back on some of my Privet RolePlay's and re-read them just for fun. I got on a this past Friday and was shocked to see just how many RolePlay's had been moved, locked, or deleted. >.>

To be honest with you, having a large number of threads or posts on a site will NOT affect the performance of any device. If a phone or iPod or what have you is having troubles loading a site it is NOT because of the amount of the posts it the internet connection. And the only solution is, get this, to move closer to the wireless source. The posts do NOT load unless you open the thread where they are contained. The site keeps 50 thread available per page to keep loading to a minimum. If you REALLY wanted to avoid lag you would get rid of the number of links on the front page or switch the number of posts and/or threads per page via a certain section in the admin panel. What you ended up suggesting did nothing to help and instead just pissed a lot of people off.

In short. Going on the site does not = Downloading all of the posts.
Opening a thread = downloading all of the POSTS IN THE THREAD!

Please. Learn how computers work before you make suggestions.

Dear sweet jegus! What I want you to start doing. RIGHT NOW. Is say what you are typing OUT LOUD before sending it or even typing it. Do you even KNOW English?

I've dealt with problems that have to do with Internet Connection AND Loading before. I'd like to think I know the difference after eight frikkin' years. Please don't argue with me. I'm right.

You brought it upon yourself, kid. Though I am immensely glad to see you stop arguing. But, really, that comment of mine could have been avoided by, oh I don't know, not responding to my thread. <3. Anyways:

This is still an issue and it needs to be taken care of. Because now I'm genuniely pissed off about it <33333333 83

@ ~+Shiny Umbreon +~

Please try to remember that, as a mini-mod and a human being, you have to take into account other peoples' opinions. Also, maybe that fact that Jenova is two years older than you means that he knows what he's talking about. >.> As for everything else in that little argument… I have no comment on the matter. Neutral

Unfortunately, as much I as I would like to help in this matter, there isn't much I honestly do. I don't move, lock, or delete Privet RP's. The Public RP's, however, I do move occasionally after a long time of inactivity. You'll have to wait for Guard to take a look at this and for her to administrate a rule or something. :/

Are you looking for pity or something? That's the second post you've made where you touched on how you have problems. If you're looking for advice or someone to talk to, please go to the Advice form or Chit-Chat. >.<

@Kate

1. Kudos on not getting involved in the argument I'm proud of you XD.
2. Yes, I'm aware an Admin has to come on, its a little shocking really that none of the three have been online since I came back online... It's like they now I'm just going to flip tables on them. All Admins seem to have that sense... of 'oh man Cayden's going to come yell at us for something.' this is far from the first time it has ended up happening.

@ Umbreeeeoooooon

If you don't want to deal with it.

Stop replying.

And please take what I said into consideration.

Read what you type aloud before you send it <3 if it doesn't make sense. FIX IT!

the only post i deleted were the ones with 1 page, with possible 2 posts. i didn't delete any with over 5 pages, unless they were pages of fighting or talking.
besides, i saw that roleplay, and it was great, i wouldn't delete it.
and the locked threads go in the Riley at archives, they aren't deleted.
