Rise and me onleeehhhh

Roje was in her abandoned home, Again. She never got tired of looking for clues on what happened to her parents during a fire. She was the only one to happened to live. It was weird how they found all the bodies but one of them was smaller, in her mothers bed. And her mom sure enough wasnt small. Her eyes flicked to the window that blew a gentle breeze in. Sighing she decided to get out of there before anyone found her.

James was jogging around, like always. he always wanted to keep fit and able to be ready for just about anything. He sighed lightly and kept jogging. Thoughts ran through his head, he stopped jogging and all of a sudden, he was smacked in the face and he looked at the girl who had slapped him. his Ex girlfriend, he mentaly groaned and wanted her to go away.

The last person she expected to see was standing in front of her. It was out of impulse that her hand flew to his face. Purely impulse...mixed with a little regret and anguish from the months before. He was with someone else now. Holly wasn't angry. She wasn't longing for the douchebag to be with her again.

Actually, she wasn't sure what overcame her, but she was in no mood to apologize. She gave him a long, menacing stare that could spell out a thousand words. Hard blue eyes, she stared at him. A passerby watched them with suspicion. Finally, she pulled on a false smile and uttered a simple, "Hello."

James sighed "Hey, Holly." he lifted his hand and he rubbed his cheek "Look, I know you still hate me and what noot but you have to get over it. its the past." they were younger as well. So it was totally different. "We were younger then and I was a total ass to you." it was true...he didnt treat her right "honestly, I really want to go back in time and fix every mistake I ever made with you." he was single. Again. this girlfriend thought that he was cheating on her and he clearly wasnt.

He was barely twenty-five, but he had landed a role as sheriff of the small town. Joseph spotted Roje leaving the abandoned building. She still visited, despite the bright yellow tape with bold black lettering that surrounded the place. Police lines would've kept most people far away, but the girl still visited frequently.

"You know you shouldn't be here, right?" Joseph called from a distance. His tone wasn't overly professional, like every cop on TV. He knew the case. He was the first on the scene. He knew the girl, and he knew her story.

"Listen, I have no time for your lecture and your pitiful begging, James." There was a high emphasis on his name. She just wanted to get away. Away, far away. Holly didn't want to run from one bad relationship right into the what was left of another. What's with her and bad relationships? She assumed that graduating school would help rid her of bad decisions, but judging by the outcome of her life thus far, she hasn't changed one bit.

"Don't talk to me. Just don't!" Holly pushed him away. Tears welled up in her eyes. A little too much to drink last night and a little too much time with a certain person caused her to repeat what happened last week. And the week before that. She was a mess.

Roje shrugged "It is my house. I have access here." she closed the door behind her and walked towards the yellow tape and hopped over it "I have every right to be at my burned house. Where my cremated family is. Except for my mother of course. I know that body was not her." she slid her hands into her jean pockets "I'm surprised none of the people who investigated - didnt find out my mother wasnt that short." her mother was taller. She got away somehow some way.

James harly moved and he pulled Holly into a hug, dispite her trying to get out of his grip "I'm not who I used to be. i'm grown now, and know what i did was bad." he sighed "please dont cry, you know how much i hate it when you cry." he felt bad for her. What would he do to help her out? "why dont you tell me why you are so unstable, Holly?"

"Unstable! Unstable! So now you're calling me unstable!" Holly barked, raising up her hands. Her semi-casual party dress looked as if she had slept in it. Evidence of make up from the day before still embellished her face. Her long streaked blonde hair was held up in a messy ponytail that was shifted slightly towards the left. Her shoes hung from her index and middle finger by their heel strap. She attempted to walk around him, first from the right, then from the left, but James blocked her off both times. "Why do you care?" she finally asked, looking up at him with her hands on her hips.

Joseph nodded, "Understandable, but police lines gotta serve some sort of purpose, y'know. It's not my rules. I'm only the messenger." When he had gotten a little closer, he added, "They want to investigate the evidence without anything changing or something new getting in the way. I promise you we'll get it all worked out soon." He gave her an assuring squeeze on the shoulder.

James knew she was quite upset "Because I do care. I'm not a jerk anymore. Just tell me what happened that you're like this, you were never this easily moody, I could help you." And he would too. He still loved her in some part of his heart. He never let that go and he was a dumbass and ruined everything between them. He ran his hand through his hair "please, just let me help."

Roje let out a sigh "its been a while since my house was burned. I would have thought they had something by now." she looked back at the house "how the fire started and who replaced my mother in that bed." she would have to look for herself. Her head snapped back to him "How do the people not know this already?"

"I get your frustration," Joseph said, "but you do realize that every time you go in a crime scene, I'm suppose to be arresting you, right?" She heard this lecture before. He had given it so many times that it had become almost involuntary. Memorized--that's what it was. But she also knew that each time, the sheriff never once laid a pair of handcuffs on her. "And I'm a cop; I'm no crime scene investigator," he smiled.

Roje nodded "yeah yeah." she rolled her eyes slightly "but you know me so well already, I wouldnt touch anything to mess up any eveidence." she looked at the car "You're a good cop, dont gotta arrest me for tiny things like this when people wont know." she shrugged "becides, if anything we could fake it."
